  Sleepers Poets Scientists showcases works by Natalie Beridze's students at the CES Creative Education Studio, a privately operated school for design, audio, and video in Tbilisi. Beridze teaches song-writing and music production. Natalie Beridze is an international well-established artist with releases on Max Ernst, Laboratory Instinct, and Monika Enterprise, through live performances, theatre and movie soundtrack works, as a member of artists collective Goslab, and collaborations with Ryuichi Sakamoto, Thomas Brinkmann, Gudrun Gut, Nikakoi
  – to name but a few. Sleepers Poets Scientists is the first vinyl release of the CES. Anuschka Chkheidze gets things rolling. Not only opening the compilation, not only inspiring the title of the compilation with her composition »Sleepers, Walkers, Scientists«, but she also stakes out the area, contributing four songs of 13 in total: »The Old Man And The Sea« is a breezy yearning piece with marching drums; »+995« the country code of Georgia, is a fleet-footed tiptoe exploration of clubby synth-pop in a tradition of Tokyo–Düsseldorf–Essex and – of course – Tbilisi; in »Only Notes« rhythmic pianos and e-pianos rhyme along hushy fairy voices; and »Sleepers, Walkers, Scientists« is a layering of airborne synthetic string pads, eerie vocals, spoken word, and drips over a whimsical beat. Natia Sartania, founder of the school, a.k.a. sTia contributes »One«, a disconcerting piece of chamber music – obfuscated voices bounce off of the shiny coffer of a tempered clavier. Eto Gelashvili's »Rivers« is a melancholic pop tune with a vocal sensibility reminiscent of Tanita Tikaram. Tampa Gvarliani exhibits two works, »Thoughts« and »Failed to Open«, a free-wheeling predness touching the country side and the urban ambient. And before we drown in the sweetest beauty, Ani Zakareishvili catches us in a classical Avantgarde mood with the concrete word-piece »Five Margarets – First M/Second M/Third M/Fourth M/Five Margarets«; followed by the ECMlike
  unsefling orchestra pit »Queen Size« with modified and mutilated stringed instruments by Nazi Chavchavadze. In »Snow Queen« Dea Bezhuashvili is observing flocks of crows over an open empty field in a bigbeat kind of manner, with echoing tones, and pitched synth stabs. In a second contribution she is featured on Katie Eristavi's ethereous shiny gem »Monument« – two minutes of pristine pulchritude. The grande finale is professor Natalie Beridze’s own, topping the album off with the programmatic »Girl Galaxy«, a dysconstructed elegancy of vocalised speed-pop. Sleepers Poets Scientists feels like a family album. Many pictures, some pale, some black and white, some colorful, some wiggly. They all have a glazier-like wide in common, a combining of expandedness with a sense of longing. Souvenirs from different hands and eyes and minds and ears, but belonging together, a togetherness defining beau4ness. And with a certainty almost absolute, we will hear more more more of these artists.
